Right- Kings 2010 MVP Mike Goodey --

For the first time since the 2002-03 season, the Kings did not hold a players awards voting followed by an awards dinner to ackowledge the players that stood out during the regular season. However, the tradition of the MVP cup must go on, which led to the strickly online vote for the 2010 MVP. Over a span of 42 days and 137 votes later, it was the largest turnout of any Kings online poll.

As the Kings prepared to begin their new season, official voting ended at 8:59PM on May 21st. A very close race saw two players come within 4 votes of the MVP. In the end, Mike Goodey had 44 tallies, which was 32% of the total votes. Dave Young with 40 votes was a very close second, with Frankie Negrette's 23 votes coming third.

Mike Goodey is deserving of this award, leading his team in assists with 16 and points with 28. He led his team in goals for most of the season but finished the season in second with with 12, 1 behind Paul Costello's 13. But more importantly, Goodey has transformed his game in becoming a tremendous team player. His 16 assists which were 6 more than the next Kings player, was just the first sign of his game evolving. Although he still maintains the knack to want to have the game winning goal on his stick, he has put his team ahead of his performance in a breakout season for him.

The Kings congratulate Mike Goodey for winning the 2010 MVP award. The Kings would also like to thank all those who participated in the largest online poll the Kings have had.
